She’s also a Qigong and Tai Chi instructor, an overall wellness advocate, and lover of all things seasonal. She also became a homeschool mom during this process, first due to her daughter's illness, and now because they fell in love with it as a family. In 2004, Alessandra Macaluso graduated from Pace University with a BA in English and Communications. Upon graduating, Alessandra began her freelance writing career, which she has continued for the past 20 years. She has had her work featured in various outlets, including the Huffington Post, Scary Mommy, TODAY Parents, and others. In 2009, Alessandra's original screenplay placed 3rd in the Moondance Film Festival for best original screenplay. In 2013, she published her first book, titled The Real-Deal Bridal Bible, which is all about the real experiences a bride goes through while planning a wedding, and how to navigate those experiences. In 2016 she published her second book, What a Good Eater!, which is a cookbook filled with nutritious recipes for babies and toddlers that the whole family can enjoy.In 2019, Alessandra published her third book, an early reader chapter book titled Lucy the Bee and the Healing Honey. She has had essays published in several Anthologies (all listed on her Amazon Author page) between 2013 and 2019. Alessandra was both Writer and Editor for Charlotte Real Producers Magazine from 2017 - 2019.In 2019 Alessandra began studying Qigong and Tai Chi, and became a Certified Instructor for both of these martial arts. She currently teaches both virtually and in-person classes, from teens all the way to seniors.In June of 2020, Alessandra's daughter, Penelope, was diagnosed with leukemia. She endured two-and-a-half years of treatment, and throughout that time, Alessandra began to homeschool both of her children as a result of both the pandemic and Penelope's compromised immune system.
